What Does an MOT Check?

The MOT covers over 70 inspection points across your vehicle

Brakes — pads, discs, fluid, and handbrake
Lights — headlights, brake, indicators, number plate
Tyres — tread depth, condition, and pressure
Steering — play, wheel alignment, power steering

Prepare for Your MOT

A few simple checks can help you avoid a fail

Check Your Lights

Walk around the car and check all bulbs are working — headlights, brake lights, indicators, reversing light, and number plate light.

Check Your Tyres

Ensure all four tyres have at least 1.6mm of tread (use the 20p test), are properly inflated, and free from cuts or bulges.

Check Your Screen

Ensure your windscreen is free from chips or cracks in the driver's line of sight and your wipers clear the screen effectively.

Check Fluid Levels

Top up engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and screen wash before your test.
